About the Programme
The Master of Social Sciences (Social Work – Youth) is the one of the few master degrees in Hong Kong to enhance the knowledge and skills to work with children and youth and their families. It is designed to train clinicians, educators, uniformed group leaders, paramedical professionals and people in pastoral care. It addresses cutting-edge developments in school social work practice, Special Educational Needs (SEN), children/youth policy and child maltreatment through advanced clinical training, conceptual enlightenment, evidence-based practice and multi-disciplinary collaboration.
This curriculum offers cross disciplinary research-led teaching and connects local clinicians and local experts to share experiences and insights, deepening students’ knowledge and practice competence. Students will examine a wide range of knowledge and skills including school social work, SEN intervention, play therapy, adventure-based counseling, emotion-focused work and family-centered work. Student-oriented cooperative learning, intensive teaching mode is uniquely designed. Students are prepared to advance their careers. We expect our graduates to be the leading clinicians of child/youth practice, effective school social work practitioners and children/youth service agency leaders.
