Through a lens of grief literacy, the aim of this presentation is to review issues and outputs of two decades of social work research conducted by Susan Cadell and colleagues in palliative care and grief. Grief literacy aims to improve how people can understand grief and support one another in it. The concept is embedded in a public health commitment to understanding and addressing the loneliness and isolation caused by grief. The goal of grief literacy is to empower individuals, networks and communities to support the bereaved among us with everyday acts of kindness and compassion. The goal of this presentation is to inspire more social work research along with greater grief literacy.
