Abstract:

How do you identify a high ability student? Should you? What are you looking at? And if you think you have identified high abilities: what do you do? These are the questions in gifted research and practice that will be discussed during this seminar. We are privileged to have Prof. Lianne Hoogeveen share her insights on these topics. Drawing from a rich well of theory, empirical research, and an impressive three-decade-long career in identifying and counseling high-ability individuals across all ages, Lianne will lead an engaging discussion with our attendees. This seminar promises to be a captivating exploration of gifted education, brimming with valuable insights for educators, practitioners, and anyone interested in understanding and nurturing high abilities. About the speaker :

Prof. Lianne Hoogeveen holds the esteemed position of Endowed Professor in ‘Identification, Support and Counselling of Talent.’ She serves as the Programme Director of the RITHA training at the prestigious Radboud Center for Social Sciences, Radboud University. In this capacity, she imparts her knowledge and expertise to teachers, remedial educationalists, and psychologists-in-training.

Beyond her teaching role, she is a respected researcher, delving into the realms of giftedness and education. Her notable academic contributions include a PhD thesis on acceleration, a pivotal aspect of gifted education.

Prof. Hoogeveen is a global collaborator, maintaining dynamic relationships with colleagues from various universities both within the Netherlands and abroad. She employs her insights as a registered psychologist to advise and counsel gifted individuals of all ages at CBO Talent Development.

Currently, she holds the distinguished position of President of the European Council for High Ability (ECHA). Her multifaceted role in education, research, and leadership underscores her commitment to the field of talent development and gifted education.
